epocrates OTC

We just had the distinct pleasure of witnessing the next evolution of epocrates with the integration of it's OTC module. With the integration of this nodule, physicians now have extensive information on a variety of over-the-counter agents including various uses, dosing and more importantly the litany of formulations a particular over-the-counter medication is a constituent. Although not currently available for the online version, this nodule has been integrated into all of its mobile platforms including the iPhone, Blackberry and Palm-based devices for those subscribers to its premium services.

In particular, we are looking forward to its utility for the variety of over-the-counter formulations with multiple ingredients, most notably cold and cough remedies. I'm sure maybe will agree, that he can be an enormously difficult to decipher and recall the various ingredients of nearly all over-the-counter preparations. With its OTC module, epocrates makes this inordinately simple.

One suggestion passed on to the development team would be the feature integration of calculating total acetaminophen dosing, particularly in light of the heightened awareness to cumulative acetaminophen exposure.

For those of you not familiar with epocrates (which we suspect is very few), now is an excellent opportunity to look at one of the premier medical applications.
